Species: Early Mining Bee or Beach Tholltach Luath Andrena haemorrhoa
Appearance: They have red hairs on the tail and a ginger thorax. Small at 11-13mm.
When to see them: They are active from March to August, and are common.
Where do they live? On the ground in sandy/lime soil – look out for them entering or exiting a tiny hole or the base of a tussock of grass.
Likes to visit: Dandelion, Willow, Blackthorn, Hawthorn
