Athlone Mixed National School visit the Aidan Heavey Library Athlone

The Aidan Heavey Library staff were delighted to welcome the students of Athlone Mixed National School to the library for a visit on the 12th March. Students from the school had a tour of the children's library and Storytime with library staff Lorna and Caroline. They also got to see the library Sensory Space and browse the books. They had lots of fun and we really enjoyed their visit! We are looking forward to seeing them again soon.

There are lots of benefits to visiting the library with your class group. Regular visits to the library help foster a love of reading in students, develop their reading identity and build confidence in their reading ability. By visiting the library they are building connections with the service that can remain into their adult life.

If you are interested in exploring the possibility of your class visiting your local library, your local library branch will be happy to discuss your needs. In the meantime, you can find out more about services that Westmeath Libraries offer to teachers and students here.
