As part of our Inspire Your World at the Library programme of events, funded by Creative Ireland, we were delighted to welcome Anna Browne of Big Sky Flowers to our libraries this winter. Anna ran a workshop on creating your own Winter Foliage display, with an emphasis on staying foam-free, and using Irish foraged materials. So far Castlepollard and Mullingar libraries have enjoyed these workshops, with Moate & Athlone events soon to come.
Below are some of the Winter Foliage displays created by participants in Mullingar Library, they'll certainly be a wonderful addition to any home.
Participants all said that they really enjoyed their evening in the library, that it was a wonderful peaceful hour. But also fun and social were all the participants learned something, and have hopefully been inspired to created their own Winter arrangements.
One participant is looking forward to taking some "long walks now collecting leaves for [their] next display".
Thanks so much to all our participants and we hope those attending in Moate & Athlone library enjoy their evening.
Remember, all library events are free to attend, although many need to be booked in advance. You can see our full listing at westmeath.spydus.ie where you can also register to attend if needed. Why not subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to hear about upcoming events.
If you are interested in creating your own flower displays then your local library can help you find some book to inspire and guide your work. We'd love to see your own creations, so if you make a Winter foliage display of your own why not share a photo with us on social media.
