Role of Chairperson
We are seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals with relevant expertise for appointment as Chairperson of Mullingar Arts Centre.
The Chairperson is responsible for providing overall leadership to Mullingar Arts Centre and ensuring its effectiveness across all operational aspects. They must demonstrate high standards of integrity and probity while establishing expectations for organisational culture, values, and behaviours at all levels, including the Board.
Background
Mullingar Arts Centre, established in November 1998, is a vibrant cultural hub featuring a 378-seat auditorium, hospitality area, and three dedicated workshop spaces. The Centre is intended to serve as the artistic heartbeat of the community, offering inclusive programming across multiple disciplines.
A primary mission of the Centre is to engage children and young people in all aspects of the arts through comprehensive educational programming. Diverse classes and workshops are delivered in music, visual art, dance, photography, literature, drama, and technical theatre skills including sound engineering, lighting design, and stage management.
The Centre provides accessible community arts facilities for people of all ages and abilities, including dedicated programming for older adults and those with special needs. Additional reach is achieved by facilitating stage schools throughout rural towns and villages across the midlands.
