Details: An Art Exhibition with Lucy Tormey and residents of Cluain Lir. Over the past number of months, visual arts activities have been underway with over 40 Residents of Cluain Lir who experience varying degrees of dementia.
This Culture Night, the Centre will be showcasing work that has been made by these residents. It is an opportunity to exhibit the artwork and to invite residents' friends and families along to celebrate their achievements.

Details: Together with Foroige Athlone and Athlone Ukrainian Community, the Midlands Polish Community CLG is inviting the public to come and enjoy some traditional Eastern European music and flavours. Polish Folk Dance group 'Shamrock' will perform and might also teach us some of the traditional Polish folk dances! Samples of the best Polish and Ukrainian traditional food from BBQ will be served. Details: This event will consist of a ‘show and tell’ of some of the dolls that Teresa has made throughout the years. She will discuss the processes she uses, before facilitating an engaging mixed media doll making activity for audience members to enjoy. This event is suitable for all ages. Details: Hirameki – ‘brainwave’ or ‘flash of inspiration’ in Japanese – is where doodling and imagination come together. Simply put, it is the art of turning a random blot into something amazing, just by adding a few dots and lines.
This Culture Night, Tuar Ard in association with Art Box will introduce the public to Hirameki art. This will be a live workshop with no strict time - people can hop in for 10 minutes or stay for 4 hours. All those who attend will be invited to display their completed work in the Tuar Ard Art Studio if they wish.
The event is aimed at all adults over the age of 18. Both new and seasoned artists who are looking for inspiration are welcome. Parents, childcare workers and teachers would also benefit from their session.
