Fruitbowl Film and Drama Hub

Fruitbowl Film and Drama Hub
is a media literacy course for adults with addtional needs. The course utilises youth theatre techniques and video production to explore creatively how media works. Participants will learn how to act and perform for the camera. They will also learn video production technique, camera, framing, lighting, editing, and mastering final cuts.

Over the course of six weeks, participants will create their own narratives on subjects like interpersonal relationships, bullying, socialising and more; they will produce educational videos from their narratives to share with other hubs within the Muiriosa Foundation’s national network.

The initiative is supported by Creative Ireland Westmeath in partnership with Friars Mill Hub, Millennium House Hub and the Link Hub of the Muiriosa Foundation in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

One of the key takeaways from Fruitbowl Film and Drama Hub is an increased awareness of how media is produced. The course is designed to promote confidence and sociability in participants, along with improved communication and self awareness, the ability to work in a team, and the skills to produce their own work.

Start and End Date:
Workshops begin on the 8th and 9th of November 2023 and the course will run in six week blocks, rolling out throughout the academic year.
