Ireland’s third Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) week runs from 20-29 September in conjunction with European Sustainable Development Week and we have a number of events lined up to celebrate.

Found Poetry Workshop

20th Sep 2024 - 3.30 - 4.15pm

Mullingar Library

Join Caroline in creating poetry by highlighting words on retired library book pages and making it shine with your own unique design! Also known as 'blackout poetry', this activity allows children to incorporate their own visual style to reinforce the meaning of a poem.

Suitable for children aged 9 - 12 year.

This session will be nature themed as part of our Sustainable Development Week 2024 programming.

If you’d like to reduce your environmental footprint, save money on groceries, support your community and local food systems, and enjoy a fun and interactive session with like-minded individuals, this food waste workshop is for you!  We dive into the critical issue of food waste and explore practical solutions for reducing it in our daily lives.  Participants will learn effective strategies for meal planning, and creative ways to repurpose leftovers, all aimed at minimizing waste.  We will also taste some delicious results!

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at growing your own food but had no clue where to begin?

Join Kate Egan from An Ghrian Glas Farm, on this workshop for absolute beginners. Come and start at the very beginning and learn about how to sow seeds, learn what compost is, how often to water, where to source your seeds and how to plan a simple vegetable garden for the Irish climate and soils.
