Wolfson History Prize shortlist 2021

Do you enjoy reading non-fiction books? Is history your favourite topic to delve into? In that case maybe the shortlist of this year's Wolfson History Prize will provide you with some new and engaging reading. This prize has been awarded annually for more than 40 years and recognises and celebrates books which combine excellence in research with readability.

The 2021 shortlist is:

  • Survivors: Children’s Lives after the Holocaust’ by Rebecca Clifford
  • Black Spartacus: The Epic Life of Toussaint Louverture’ by Sudhir Hazareesingh
  • Ravenna: Capital of Empire, Crucible of Europe’ by Judith Herrin
  • Double Lives: A History of Working Motherhood ‘ by Helen McCarthy (Download the ebook from BorrowBox)
  • Burning the Books: A History of Knowledge Under Attack’ by Richard Ovenden
  • ‘Atlantic Wars: From the Fifteenth Century to the Age of Revolution’ by Geoffrey Plank

Under current Covid-19 restrictions libraries are currently closed, however once we reopen you can request these titles from your local library.

The winner of the Wolfson Prize will be announced on 9th June 2021.
