A project entitled ‘Best Practice in the Care, Conservation and Recording of Historic Graveyards’ is being carried out as an action of the Westmeath Heritage Plan, with funding from the Heritage Council and Westmeath County Council. As part of this project a report and interactive map were compiled by Archaeologist Antoine Giacometti of Archaeology Plan – Heritage Solutions. The report and map summarise the level of recording already undertaken on 203 historic graveyards across the County (eg. list of burials/ full headstone inscriptions, maps, photographs) and detail where this information is held.
