The award, presented by Veronica Crosbie, Chair, Places of Sanctuary Ireland, to Cathaoirleach Liam McDaniel and County Librarian Paula Leavy McCarthy, was unanimously granted by the staff and board of Places of Sanctuary Ireland, in consultation with experts in the field.
Places of Sanctuary Ireland is a network of groups promoting a culture of welcome and inclusiveness right across every sphere and sector of society. Libraries of Sanctuary is part of the wider Places of Sanctuary Ireland initiative.
This award recognises the good practice that takes place in Westmeath Libraries, where democracy, diversity and inclusivity is celebrated and welcomed.
