The Historic Structures Fund is an annual grant scheme from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage administered by Westmeath County Council. The primary focus of the Historic Structures Fund is on conservation and enhancement of historic structures and buildings for the benefit of communities and the public. Funding is offered for Vernacular Structures and for Historic Shop Fronts, with an additional funding allocation for the conservation of traditional Irish-language shopfronts. To be eligible for the grant buildings must be on the Record of Protected Structures or be within an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA). Full details are outlined on the circular.

The Built Heritage Investment Scheme is an annual grant scheme administered by Westmeath County Council in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The Built Heritage Investment Scheme is designed to support owners and custodians in caring for our built heritage and ensuring that it is protected into the future.
To be eligible for the grant buildings must be on the Record of Protected Structures or be within an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA).

The Community Monuments Fund is an annual grant scheme which aims to help custodians and owners of archaeological monuments to safeguard them into the future for the benefit of local communities and the visiting public. In addition, they will provide support for heritage professions and job opportunities in building conservation and other traditional skills. Applications by private owners or community groups for funding under the under the CMF must be made to the Heritage Office of Westmeath County Council by 31st January. The core aims of the Community Monuments Fund are the conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of archaeological monuments.

Grants for the renewal or repair of thatch are available from the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government. The GLAS Traditional Farm Buildings Grant scheme is run by the Heritage Council in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for farmers approved in the GLAS scheme.
A grant award of up to 75% of the cost of the works is available, with grant varying from €4,000 to a maximum of €25,000. The grant is available for the conservation of traditional farm outbuildings, including roof, walls, structural repairs, windows and doors.
The grant is also available for other related structures including historic yard surfaces, walls, gate pillars and gates. The emphasis is on essential repairs, with restoration works having a low priority.
