As part of our Bridge the Gap programme we are delighted to welcome Mary Moran along for an online talk on 12th Dec 2022, at 11am.
Dyslexia, dyspraxia and dysgraphia can be barriers to learning and working. As part of our Bridge the Gap programme Westmeath Libraries are hosting a number of talks and workshops to support our dyslexic community.
Join Mary Moran from DCode Dyslexia for a talk on literacy, and helping dyslexic children.
Please note this talk will take place on Zoom. The link will be emailed out in advance, so please make sure to fill out your correct email when registering for this talk. We will record this event, and will share the recording with registered attendees. This will only be available for a limited time.
This is a free talk, but booking is essential. You can book online, or by contacting your local library, or phoning 044 9332161
Remember you local library has many additional supports for individuals with dyslexia, or any other literacy related issue. We have technology, such as the C-Pen, as well as books designed specifically to assist readers. Barrington Stoke, for example, publish books with a unique, dyslexia-friendly font to make reading easier. They also design their books with accessible layouts and spacing to stop the page from becoming overcrowded, and use off-white, heavier paper to help reduce visual stress.
Ask in your local library for more details on these, and other supports.
This event is funded by Dormant Accounts Fund 2022.
