  • Weave your own willow bird feeder! Have a go at this amazing heritage craft and learn traditional weaving techniques.  Booking is essential. All materials and tools provided. This free event is part of Westmeath Libraries Heritage Week programme of events.    
  • Regular wargames now every three weeks. Currently we are playing combat patrol and 500 point games of warhammer with a bloodbowl available as well.Beginners welcome. We can supply an army if needed and can show you warhammer, kill team or battletech. If there is another game you'd like to play, reach out and we will see if we can find you an opponent.Warhammer is free but registration required. Suitable for age 16+

  • Orla from Kind Kids Club will be at the Aidan Heavey Library, Athlone to introduce you to the world of wellbeing and mindfulness. She’ll show children how to relax their minds and to understand and express their thoughts and feelings through a wide range of fun activities. For ages 7 - 11.   • A warrior’s shield was a very important part of their weaponry. A shield protected them from being hurt in battle. Warriors decorated their shields with bright colours, patterns, swirls, spirals and circles. We Invite you to come to Mullingar Library and design a shield for Cú Chulainn. Participants will have their works displayed as part of our Heritage Week Exhibition.August 8th from 3pm-4pm. Suitable for ages 8+.Booking required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
