Joining the library is easy and FREE to all.
Westmeath Libraries is part of Libraries Ireland. Visit the Library Ireland website and complete the online registration form. You will be given a registration number which you must then bring to your local library along with appropriate ID.

Most items can be borrowed for 3 weeks. They may be renewed online (Link to catalogue here), by telephone or by calling in person, provided the items are not required by another member.
All members may borrow up to 12 items.
Members can also use our Library Online 24/7 from home, work, or on the go.
Membership is free to everyone.
No fines will be collected for library books from 1st Jan 2019. Juvenile items or items borrowed on a juvenile card will not be charged for. Adults will be asked to pay for or replace lost or damaged material borrowed from adult collections.
If your local library does not hold the book you want we can request it for you from another library. Please speak to a member of staff for more information. The following fees apply
We provide internet access computers in all our libraries. Members may book the internet for 1 hour sessions- we also offer an Express Session which lasts 15 minutes. There is no charge for accessing the internet. However a maximum of 2 hours may be booked per day subject to availability.
WiFi is available to members in Athlone, Castlepollard, Kilbeggan, Moate and Mullingar libraries. You can log in to the wireless network with your library barcode and PIN. If you do not have a PIN please ask at the library desk. If you are not currently a member you can sign up to join our WiFi service for free. Black and white photocopying and printing are charged at 25 cent per A4 page and 30 cent for A3 pages.
Colour photocopying and printing (where available) are charged at €1.00 per A4 page and €2.00 per A3 page.
