Artists are invited to apply for Art in Session Open Air Art Market

Deadline extended until Thursday 03 August at 12pm

The Westmeath County Council Arts Office is delighted to present Art in Session, Mullingar’s open air art market. Art in Session will run across Mullingar Courthouse Railings on Mount St, during the last weekend of Fleadh Cheoil na h Éireann 2023.

The Westmeath Arts Office invites artists to display their work on the Courthouse railings during the busy Fleadh period in the town. It is an opportunity for artists to sell their work, and to meet with members of the public to discuss their practice.

The market will run from 11am – 4pm on Friday 11, Saturday 12, and Sunday 13 August.

What will I need:

Artists displaying will need to provide their own cable ties. They will also need to ensure that their work is adequately framed to help with weather-proofing.

N.B. Artists will be responsible for insuring their own works of art.

How do I apply:

Please apply by filling out the form below by Thursday 03 August 2023 at 12pm.

As display space will be limited, we would encourage artists to apply for this opportunity at their earliest convenience.

What kind of work can I display:

Paintings, drawings and photography will be accepted for the market.

• No artwork can be displayed if it conveys any overtly political message or viewpoint
• No artwork can be displayed if it is overtly religious in nature
• No artwork can be displayed if it could give rise to controversy or could cause offence
• No artwork can be displayed if it could undermine the public perception of the impartiality or the dignity of the courts

None of these restrictions are intended to deny the artists freedom of expression but are necessary to safeguard the public perception of the impartiality and dignity of the courts.
