Culture Night Westmeath - Mullingar Town Band

Mullingar Town Band Performance

Location: Market Square, Mullingar

Details: Mullingar Town Band with Colourguard are delighted to present an entertaining music performance programme in Market Square, Mullingar for Culture Night 2023.

Interactive Arts at Mullingar Arts Centre

Location: Mullingar Arts Centre, Mount Street, Mullingar

Time: 6.30pm - late

Details: Come and spend the evening with us celebrating song, dance, drama, and musical theatre. All events are FREE.  Booking is not required.

Art Exhibition with the Residents of Cluain Lir

Location: Cluain Lir Care Centre, Robinstown (Levinge), Mullingar

Details: An Art Exhibition with Lucy Tormey and residents of Cluain Lir. Over the past number of months, visual arts activities have been underway with over 40 Residents of Cluain Lir who experience varying degrees of dementia.

This Culture Night, the Centre will be showcasing work that has been made by these residents. It is an opportunity to exhibit the artwork and to invite residents' friends and families along to celebrate their achievements.

Gimme a Minute Film Festival

Culture Night Music Jammers

Mullingar Music Jammers Music Minute

Location: Mullingar Library, County Buildings, Mount St, Westmeath

Time: 5pm - 6pm

Details: Join members of the Mullingar Music Jammers for a few minutes of music. Music Generation Westmeath in association with Mullingar Library and Westmeath Arts Office.

Emper Culture Night Events

Location: Scoil Bhríde, Emper, Ballynacarrigy, N91 PP71

The night's programme will include local;

  • Poetry recitations
  • Storytelling
  • Displays of Craftwork
  • Displays of local historical and cultural memorabilia

Refreshments will be offered. There will be presentations to winners of the "Tess Coyne" memorial shield and the "Anne Maxwell" memorial shield.

There will be a raffle on the evening with proceeds going to North Westmeath Hospice services.

Food and Music from Eastern Europe

Location: St Mary's Hall, Northgate Street, Athlone, Co Westmeath

Time: 7pm - 10pm

Details: Together with Foroige Athlone and Athlone Ukrainian Community, the Midlands Polish Community CLG is inviting the public to come and enjoy some traditional Eastern European music and flavours. Polish Folk Dance group 'Shamrock' will perform and might also teach us some of the traditional Polish folk dances! Samples of the best Polish and Ukrainian traditional food from BBQ will be served. This is going to be part of the bigger event organized the same time by Foroige Athlone and Athlone Ukrainian Community. Everyone is very welcome to come and enjoy the evening!

Live Art Demo and Acoustic Music Set

A Decade at Big Meadow

Stories of my Dollmaking in Tullynally Castle with Teresa Doyle

Details: This event will consist of a ‘show and tell’ of some of the dolls that Teresa has made throughout the years. She will discuss the processes she uses, before facilitating an engaging mixed media doll making activity for audience members to enjoy. This event is suitable for all ages. Booking is essential as places are limited. Participants are most welcome to bring a doll they own to this event, the older the doll the more wonderful the experience will be.

A Night of Music and Storytelling with Water Street Association

Location: Water Street Association, Water Street Castlepollard, N91NP40

Time: 7.30pm - 9.30pm

Details: The public, young and old, are invited to join us for a night of music and storytelling, we will have music showcasing local musicians and an open mic where our audience are invited to share stories, poems or songs. Visitors can also enjoy events outside in our community garden and gather around our fire pit where we will be serving homemade punch and warming apple pie made with produce from our own garden.

Church Concert in Kinnegad

Location: Church of the Assumption, Main St, Kinnegad

Time: 7.30pm - 9.30pm

Details: Live performances with music varying from classical, to trad and contemporary. There will be groups, soloists and dancers performing on the evening.


Hirameki Workshop for Adults

Location: Tuar Ard Arts Centre, Moate

Time: 6pm - 10pm

Details: Hirameki – ‘brainwave’ or ‘flash of inspiration’ in Japanese – is where doodling and imagination come together. Simply put, it is the art of turning a random blot into something amazing, just by adding a few dots and lines.

This Culture Night, Tuar Ard in association with Art Box will introduce the public to Hirameki art. This will be a live workshop with no strict time - people can hop in for 10 minutes or stay for 4 hours. All those who attend will be invited to display their completed work in the Tuar Ard Art Studio if they wish.
The event is aimed at all adults over the age of 18. Both new and seasoned artists who are looking for inspiration are welcome. Parents, childcare workers and teachers would also benefit from their session.
