Details: A lecture by Archaeologist Dr Paul Stevens entitled ‘For whom the bell tolls; Clonfad and its place in early medieval monastic Westmeath’. Dr Stevens directed excavations on the monastic site of Clonfad, Co. Westmeath in advance of the construction of the N52/N6 road scheme. The ‘Clonfad hand bell’ was one of the artefacts found during the excavation of the site which was identified as a centre of metal working.
